Week 1-Prior Experiences with Social Media and Web 2.0 Technologies
My prior experiences with social media include primarily Facebook which I generally only check once every few weeks. I enjoy the pictures that everyone posts of their families the most and feel that it is better to correspond by traditional means such as by phone when available for general correspondence. My Web 2.0 experience springboards from a smartphones mainly and the apps therein, although I have tinkered once or twice with a wiki I wouldn't call myself very well acquainted with the technology. I have created a podcast before and have added an instruction video onto YouTube as well so I'm a little more comfortable with those technologies. I wouldn't consider my self a leader in this category of social media and Web 2.0 technologies nor would I consider my self a novice, follower. I am definitely floating in the middle somewhere as I enjoy technology very much and seem to be able to navigate the web and many mechanism there within pretty easily. I am hoping to learn tons more than I knew coming into this class about technical means by which to understand and eventually design and instruct. I would like to understand more about blogs, Twitter, what exactly the point of a hashtag is, wikis, podcasts, webinars, Diigo, etc. Here's to a smooth start! A day at a time I hope to chisel away at my the small facets of my technological ignorance and twist those around to make them areas of strengths. But since the first step is not being afraid to use the technology, here I go, time to jump in the deep end!
